The former name of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University was Purvanchal University, Jaunpur. VBSPU is named in the honour of late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of the state. VBSPU which is an affiliated University under U.P. state university act 1973 was established on 2nd October, 1987. This university has emerged as one of the leading universities of our country on the basis of Continuous qualitative and quantitative growth, excellence in academic and administrative activities, transparent and efficient academic administration.
